GUARDIAN FOR OPRHAN KNOWLEDGE

SERIES OF SCULPTURES, 2025

Orphan Knowledge is a series of work, narrating the idea of «knowledge» as a collective formulation, describing the identity, inner capacity, complexity and history of the subject.

In this series I pursue creating a symbolic, visual idea of what the «knowledge» of a modern humankind would look like.

«Orphan Knowledge» concentrates on the roots of humanity, and relevant concern of how man intentionally «erases» the traces of its civilization and denies ideas that long described its perception through technological progression.

With the expansion of our social network, the lines between different cultures dissolve; many old languages are dying, merging different national groups together, erasing the cultural differences, that were described by essential customs, spiritual believes and art practices.

As an outcome, a big sacrifice we make in exchange for technological progress is outage of small national groups and their absorption by predominant countries with bigger network and larger development, but much poorer in culture. We are being left with, hopefully, preserved «knowledge» of their culture, traces of their tradition and perception of life; But eventually, generations of the minor population can get completely absorbed by mass-culture of ever-growing network, and there would be no human left to preserve the history. This is how the «knowledge» becomes orphan.

My knowledge is orphan.

In this series, I blur the line between the symbolism, techniques and figurative imagery of different cultures, merging together the perception of different tradition, spiritually and history.

Through my work, I attempt to explore what it means to live in the world of mass-absorption of small cultural knowledge,

and how different stories from all over the world can now coexist in the same form.

I intentionally alter the visual “age” of the work, in order to erase the traces of modern time we live in, creating an effect of works, made «in the space and time, existing in between our centuries and specific contexts» Cracks, faded colors, integration of natural objects and mimicry of  organic shapes, imaginative creatures and narratives, blurring the lines between different centuries, cultures and beliefs - All to recognize the non-linear subjection of the world we live in, the perception of our history, culture and modern mythology.
